| I watched the greatest Super Bowl in history last night, but unfortunately it was tarnished by the hypocrisy of CBS advertisements. Weeks before the Super Bowl, CBS rejected an ad from the MoveOn.org campaign that informed the public about the federal deficit's impact on children. From the Center for American Progress: The ad simply says that the President is responsible for the deficit and that the nation's children will have to pay for it. There is nothing controversial about this assertion.
Here's a nice quote from Tina Fey commenting on the CBS censorship:
CBS has said they will not air Moveon.org's ad, saying they don't air so-called 'issue ads.' Unless the issue is that girls are sluts for beer. --Tina Fey

sly, CBS is playing politics with free speech. If CBS won't run a political ad about the deficit, what kind of uncontroversial ads will they run?
Lets see... They ran some anti-drug ads funded by Anheuser Busch. This company spends millions on spreading propaganda about drugs because if marijuana were legal the profits they make from marketing mass-produced beer would plummet. They don't really care if people are hooked on drugs; they just want to make sure people are hooked on their drug.
What a wonderful world we live in where everything revolves around the almighty dollar. |
